Once again, it is Monday and the week begins and the quiz enters. Since the US in the middle of the political wars I will stay with a political theme.
The term "pitiless publicity", what does it mean and who used it when?
This is fairly simple and should be a breeze for all my good students. See I do have a heart after all.

As far as I can tell, it was Ralph Waldo Emerson as early as 1883:
"As gaslight is found to be the best nocturnal police, so the universe protects itself by pitiless publicity."
I think he means that fortunately, most of us are bad at keeping secrets, and that the thing that keeps us from acting even worse than we do is that we don't like to look bad in front of others.
Oh crap, you rae right, but I was looking for which politician used it in his campaign promises. Sorry.
OK, then I think it was Woodrow Wilson, when he was campaigning for governor of New Jersey.
