Democratic and Republican healthcare plans offer clear choices - Los Angeles Times
For those voters that want to know the difference in the 3 candidates health care plans, this article will help. And please read the article closely and see that nowhere in these plans is there any form of "creeping socialism" and that none of the plans is in reality universal.

Curing our sick system - The Minnesota Daily
This is an excellent analysis of the health care problem. read it and it will help one understand the complexities that reform will face and probably not solve.

A battle looms! Congress passed SCHIP and sent it to pres; he vetoed and now it is in Congress for them to try and find the guts to override. Personally, I do not think they have the guts to override.
The Pres said he vetoed because he did not want that burden to fall on the tax payer. Thinking.....And what about the war is not a burden on the tax payer. A mere portion of that money would fund this program. But he must protect the tax payer. GOD I love this stuff.
I have a simple option that would go a long way in solving all this petty bullsh*t over the program. ASK THE TAX PAYER! You see it is that easy.
Another thing--tax cuts, according to the admin puts more money into the system, for the people will have extra money to spend and that is good for the economy. Using that same lame line of thinking. If people who have the kids on a private policy were covered by the government, would that not put more money back into the economy, for the people would not need that private policy and thus woulod have more money to spend?
Just a thought using the same twisted logic that the Repubs use on the tax cut thing.

Hillary has offered her new plan for the health care problem in this country. She is offering the Congressional plan to the US. She has said that this would not create a huge new bureaucracy and that the people could keep the doctors and stuff they know and trust. There is a provision for the uninsured with a medicare-like program. So on and so on.
Well, I see holes where people can fall through the cracks. It is just a reform of an existing program. After all Ms Clinton does get considerable financial support from the health care system. So any attempts to so called "socialize" health care is just plain and simply stupid. She is not gonna offer something that would harm one of her political bases. It is still health care for profit. And huge profits at that.
This program may help a few more people, but it is no universal health care, where everyone has access to health care. Her proposal is just a rehash of one she had back in 1994, I believe. There is no adequate health care proposal out there and as a result the people will be no better off than they are today.
There is an answer but unfortunately no one wants to hear the truth. And the truth is the only way to guarantee that everyone has access to adequate health care is for a program that will include everyone--unfortunately for the people that program is nowhere in the cards, only pale programs that still allow the medical profession to continue to hold the public hostage.

I wanted to be fair and cover the repubs and their responses to the questions put to them at the forum. First, I will say that MSNBC was wrong for the way they put the Repubs responses out there. Thiers was done in pieces on shows on Tuesday which made it difficult for me to follow.
These are the ones I sat through:
Brownbeck--he was first and I did not hear a straight answer from him. His idea is to shift funding for cancer--no new ideas.
Huckabee--a likeable guy and handled himself well. Had some good ideas for the health awareness, but I did not hear any good ideas for funding--other than the call for health saving accts. But no one asked about the poor and how they would save money for their accts. All in all not worth a flip.
At this point I stopped watching and went to SpongeBob, his insights seem to be more realistic than those of Repubs.
I apologize for not watching more but I have a low nausea threshold.

I watched the stuff yesterday. It was not a debate per say, but a statement by the Dems that attended on healthcare, especially cancer and treatment. Only 4 of the Dem candidates were there and I will assess each one from my point of view.
Kucinich--once again I have as the best of the participants. He answered all questions starightforward and with passion, conviction and forcefully. He showed that he has excellent humorous side and was very good with the audience.
Edwards--was next in my poll--he was on fire and forcefully confrontational--gave all the right answers and said all the right things. Not so much truthful in my opinion.
Richardson--He quoted a lot of stats--his idea is to negotiate with the health industry on treatments--balance the budget--and my personal fav--limit Congressional raise to the success they have with bills.
Clinton--she showed why she is in the lead--vague, boring and aloof.
For me Kucinich is the man--he has good sound ideas and has good sound ways to pay for them. Of course, some will not like his choices, but he is thinking of the population as a whole and not just the monied few. Thumbs up!
It is written--so be it.

Was just watching CNN and they had a report of a new FDA approved over-the-counter diet pill, that will go on market in mid-June. CNN interviewed a doctor about the pill and she talked about all sorts of stuff, but what grabbed my attention when she said that the people taking it should start eating healthy, getting exercise and such. Will it be a breakthrough in the War on Obesity?
Well, think about this--if you change your diet and eat healthy and get regular exercise--why would you need a pill? Would not those changes do the trick without an expensive bottle of pills?
Just thinking.

An Alternative Healthcare Proposal
For years, the most pressing problem that the US faces is that of adequate healthcare for all the American people. Leaders have toyed with the problem, the people have wanted more, presidents have given it tons of lip service, but yet no one has an idea that will work. It either would cost too much money or it would not be politically advantageous or........and the beat goes on. To date there is still no adequate healthcare or a workable plan. My question is--how long will they debate and promise and ......?
I have had a thought on one possible path they could be taken to help the American people with adequate healthcare. And the really good part of it, it will not add much cost to the system that would needed to be funded by more taxes.
But I start I want to make it clear that this plan is for doctors and visists it will not encompass hospitalizationof any kind. The easy part would be the doctor's end of the equation, the hospital part will take a massive plan to fix it. This then is just a small part of the problem, but could be fixed with little increase to the American people.
This is a plan that I sent to my Congressman several years ago and his reply had nothing to do with what I had outlined. In other words, the pig did not read it and some low level gopher sent me a reply to my proposal. Needless to say, I have little use for my congressman, who by the way is still on my dime in Washington.
First let us start with seemingly unrelated problems; the healthcare of the American people and those who default on their student loans. Is there a connection? Well, yeah! One of the worst abusers of non-payment of student loans are those in the medical field; doctors to be more exact.
There have been many plans over the years to try an get the money out of these abusers, but most were a dismal failure. One such plan, the doctor would go where the US needed him/her and work until the loan was paid down. Not bad, but unfortunately, there were always loopholes that allowed the people to escape from this plan.
My proposal is simple, the doctor opens a clinic in Willacuchi, Ga and begins seeing patients. He would then choose a day a week that the poor would be treated. The amount of the visit, supplies and medication that he used that day would be deducted from his loan balance and this would be continued until the entire loan was paid off. NO ESCAPE CLAUSES!
The doctor, no matter what city or town, would not have to give up their private practice or their goals of riches accumulation. The Dept. of Health and Human Services would monitor the transactions, to keep them honest.
This proposal will not eliminate the need for more sweeping changes in the healthcare of Americans, but it woiuld be a start at helping those who cannot afford to visit the doctor on regular basis. Those people who do not have insurance or money enough for doctors appointments. I realize that this is simplistic and if the government gets involved it might become a nightmare, but it is a start
It would not take DHHS long to come up with a satisfactory method of determining who is in need and who is scamming. This would not be that difficult and I say why not give it a try?
