Steroid Scandal

Please, what part of this is necessary for Congress to be involved? Personally, I think they have more important things to consider, like impeachment, FISA, and such. Steroid use is not something that they need to pursue, let the Justice dept handle it. OK?

The American people need much more concern for their welfare than to worry about which overpaid athelete is injecting themselves with crap. If their head swells and explodes think of the money the owners will save.

I do not care! The american need more action and less crap from their reps.

Tiger Woods

The big news is Tiger has become a daddy. Congrats! But I would like to talk about his speech after com9ing in second at the US Open. He was a bad loser, he was pouting and saying that 2nd was no good, etc. I did not hear him say anything about the guy who won. Stop whining! How much did you make for 2nd? come bubba get over yourself. You may not like the fact that you did not win, but at least show some sportsmanship! All this from a guy who makes more money than God and he cannot handle the fact that someone played Golf better than he. What A Tool!

Is It A Sport?

Hunting: An American Tradition?

Hunting was a way of life not long ago. You were a good provider for your family if you were a good hunter But since the invention of supermarkets and white collar jobs, it is no longer a necessity to be a good hunter.

Hunting moved from a necessity to a sport. Now if you buy a hunting license you become a member of a large sporting club--the American hunter. You are a sportsman, who hunts from a tree stand that is comfortable, with a gun that shoots a mile with a scope that can see 2 miles. Oh Yeah, the gun holds a clip of 4 or more rounds. you arrive at your chosen luxury box in a tree by your ATV, which has a cooler on the back with lunch and suds. There is more but why beat that dead horse.

Now my question is--what part of the above description defines hunting as a sport? Or what part of it gives the prey a "sporting" chance? When I was living on a local river with not much money I hunted almost daily. I was shooting doves on the ground and some guy saw me and said "you are not giving them a chance." I replied screw them, I am making lunch nor sport.

I just do not like the fact it is called a sport--it is not! Looking for a trophy buck is not sport, it is just some sick form of blood lust!

I say that if there must be these "people" in the woods, then make the license fee $1000 and put it into a pot, take all that pay to a pre arranged area and the one that walks out alive gets all the cash, with 10% going to the state for maintaince fees.

UFC And The Future

Ultimate Fighters

In the 40's and 50's the popularity of boxing hit an all time high. Two men enter the ring and one was victorious at beating the brains out of his opponent. It was popular anf television made it even more popular--Friday Night Fights sponsored by Gillette.

Slowly wrestling was gaining on boxing and it the '80's a showman got hold of wrestling and turned it into a huge money maker. Lots of violence and blood, all the flash and bang that the tv audience could podssibly want. It became huge, pay-per-view and huge arenas, lots of cash flowing. The American audience was eating up the flash, violence, confrontations and especially the blood.

Wrestling began to lose some of its luster by 2000. But wait! A genius thought of combining the boxing and wrestling into a new sport--the Ultimate Fighter. This is where 2 guys get in an octagon shaped ring and fight using boxing, karate, judo, wrestling, yada, yada. These two go at it until someone is declared the winner. I am sure there are a bunch of rules concerning the fight, but I will leave that to those that give a crap.

IN the beginning it was two guys fighting, it morphed into teams fighting two men at a time until all fights are over and one team wins, or should we call them stables instead of teams? The organization is also pushing personalities and grudges, to help the status of the "sport".

If all progresses along the lines that it appears to be taking now, by 2025 the fights should involve weapons and finally morph into the battle to the death. in other words a new style of gladiators.

It should go over pretty well since the American public is such a bloodthristy group. Gladiators are just what the ratings called for--It will make good TV.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
