Before much longer, oil will be so expensive, no one will be able to afford to run a conventional car. This is inevitable and governments cannot do anything to stop it, politicians’ promises notwithstanding.

What most of us can afford is a battery-powered car that goes 80 – 100 miles between charges and charges overnight. The technology already exists – the price and performance is already reasonable – and is advancing swiftly.

Obama should lead by example, and the next U.S. leader should make sure that the next presidential limousine is battery-powered, American designed and built. A demonstration by the President that there is a practical alternative to the internal combustion engine would lead to all sorts of new jobs; lead and recycled lead from areas with lead mines (Colorado and British Columbia), rubber battery parts from Ohio, super capacitors from Texas, assembled batteries from Pennsylvania, car assemblies from Michigan, California and Tennessee, armor components, Kevlar, and carbon fibre from Delaware.

When most cars sold are battery powered, America’s dependency on foreign oil will evaporate. Failure to start now will result in the American public buying Asian battery-powered cars.john spencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14892877320975480541noreply@blogger.com
